Lilas House
Sustainable Renovation with Identity
Located in the Mateo Inurria district of Madrid, this single-family residence underwent a comprehensive renovation driven by a clear objective: to preserve its essence while demonstrating that sustainability begins with valuing what already exists.
From the outset, the recovery and reuse of the home's original materials became one of the project's guiding principles. Rather than viewing recycling as a constraint, it was embraced as an opportunity to give the house a unique identity, reducing the environmental impact of the intervention while giving existing elements a second life.
This approach, rooted in the principles of the circular economy, reflects our understanding of architecture: intervening responsibly, minimizing waste, and preserving the value of existing materials whenever possible. We believe that the best architecture is not always about building more, but about knowing how to preserve, reinterpret, and transform.
In the attic level, the design focused on strengthening the relationship between the interior and the city by opening up new views towards Madrid's Four Towers Business Area and the iconic KIO Towers. The introduction of natural light and spatial continuity transformed this floor into one of the most distinctive areas of the house.
The result is a home that preserves its original character while embracing a contemporary way of living, where heritage, sustainability, and design coexist in perfect harmony.
